Why?
In late 2023, the European Commission presented its Communication on public administration, entitled “Strengthening the European Administrative Space (ComPAct). The ComPAct reflects that public administrations and governance underpins everything else. Without efficient and effective public administrations there can be no delivery on EU policies and instruments, and also no trust from citizens.
What?
The conference will focus on how ComPAct can support Member States modernise their public administrations, help improve EU productivity and competitiveness, and contribute to expanding the Single Market.
The conference will have two main themes:
1) ComPAct reducing the administrative burden and making Europe more competitive. This underpins President von der Leyen’s commitment to reduce reporting requirements by 25%, in line with our strategy to boost the EU’s long-term competitiveness. ComPAct will contribute through simplification, re-design of business processes and enhanced administrative cooperation.
2) ComPAct completes the Single Market. The ComPAct Digital pillar focuses on digitalisation and interoperability as a tool to facilitate the provision of cross border services, which will offer greater market opportunities for European businesses and greater services for EU citizens.
Who?
The event brings together high-level officials and practitioners from the EU institutions, Member States and social partners.
The event will be in-person and upon invitation. Interested parties will be able, upon registration, to follow the live stream of the conference.
