The Commission supported the strengthening of the institutional setup for State aid control in Greece

Context

Reform of the operation and organizational culture of the competent authorities by ensuring efficient interaction, coordination and support, as well as effective supervision of State Aid authorities, inter alia by cooperating and working more closely with the European Commission to ensure proper, lawful and well-organized use of national and European Union resources.

Support delivered

  • Multiple interviews and workshops to ensure mutual understanding and communication.
  • Multiple drafts of deliverables were shared in order to collect comments by the beneficiary and deliver outcomes which meet DG REFORM and CSAU expectations.
  • Applying quality control measures on the final deliverables (i.e timely Deliverables, large number of documents reviewed, quality review of the Deliverables from legal experts and native English speakers).

  • Compliance with the procedure
  • Clear view of roles and competencies

Moreover, the project results can be replicated for:

  • Point of reference for similar projects regarding State aid rules and procedures in other EU Member States.
  • Material for benchmarking purposes (comparative evaluation) of current Greek state aid framework and procedures against respective of other EU Member States.
  • Point of reference for the European Commission, that could be used as a source to reports drafted by the European Commission regarding State aid.
