Empowering people through digital technologies sits at the core of the Commission’s vision for digital transformation by 2030. Europe’s Digital Decade digital transition strategy will set the governance framework to facilitate the digitalisation of European public administrations and for enabling digital transformation during the digital decade. A decade which is fundamental to embed security, sustainability, and ethics in the digital European society. In addition, the 2030 Digital Compass establishes clear and concrete objectives and targets for digital skills and infrastructures as well as for the digitalisation of businesses and public services.
The workshop will launch the discussion with a keynote on the imperatives of strategic management for the digital transformation of the public administration. Next, a presentation about the Europe’s Digital Decade will frame the discussion to then spotlight two components of the Digital Compass. Firstly, the digital transformation of public services by explaining how it is enacted in the specific case of the public administration of an EU country. Secondly, the workshop will explain how the public administration (PA) can enable the digital transformation of business: the case of German small and medium enterprises (SMEs) which form data cooperatives. Finally, a panel discussion will follow to open the floor to questions by the attendants and to discuss the different aspects of digital governance for public administrations and digital transformation.
