The Expert Group on Public Administration and Governance was established on 17 December 2021 by a Commission decision.
The Expert Group is a platform to facilitate the dialogue between the European Commission and representatives of the Member States in the area of Public Administration and Governance. The objective is to identify common challenges for public administration and innovative approaches to address them. This platform for open dialogue allows the Commission to create synergies and tailor its support instruments on Member States’ needs and challenges.
The members of the group are representatives from the Member States’ authorities responsible for horizontal issues, policy, coordination or modernisation in the area of public administration. Each Member State is responsible for appointing its representatives according to its national organisational set up. International organisations and research institutes can attend the meetings as observers. The Commission can invite other experts on an ad-hoc basis and in function of topics discussed.
The Expert Group meets on a quarterly basis.
The Expert Group on Public Administration and Governance is published in the Register of Commission expert groups and other similar entities.
